Doris M. Ruoss Pierce of Kennett Square, Pa.
Doris M. Ruoss Pierce, 82, of Kennett Square, Pa. died on Monday, February 24, 2014 with her daughter and son by her side, at Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester, Pa. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and was a lifetime member of Hamorton United Methodist Church. Born in West Chester, Pa., Doris was the daughter of Vernon T. Ruoss and Frances Miller Ruoss. She was most recently employed in the business office of the maintenance department at Longwood Gardens where she worked for many years before retiring. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, working in her flower gardens and watching the birds but mostly loved being with her family. Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Samuel A. Pierce, her brother Vernon (Sonny) Ruoss, and nephew Glen A. Ruoss. Doris is survived by her daughter Debra and son-in-law Billy Rollings of Fort Mill, S.C. and son Ronald Pierce of Kennett Square, Pa.; grandson Samuel P. Rollings of Aiken, S.C.; brother George Ruoss of West Chester, Pa., and many nieces and nephews.
